Now that we’re in the midst of the award season, one of our favourite things is seeing the stars in all their finery. This includes the glamorous and trendy hairstyles showcased by some of the biggest names in the business attending the Academy Awards. They always offer our clients plenty of inspiration when it comes to anything from party makeup and hair to styles for the upcoming wedding season. Here are some of our favourite hairstyles to emerge from this year’s Oscars.
Updos
An updo is an ideal way to create a sophisticated look and show off your outfit in full while also being highly practical for keeping every strand in place. One of the perfect examples was the style worn by Lady Gaga at this year’s Oscars, sweeping her platinum locks into an updo that had plenty of volume. This achieved a really special look that remained soft, fresh and beautiful all in one.
Relaxed Styles
If searching for a more relaxed look, updos don’t have to be sleek. A wispier style like that worn by Gemma Chan was effortless but effective when paired with the rest of her glamorous outfit and makeup. Another star’s style we loved was Laura Harrier’s, pinning her hair up in a high bun with loose strands left at the front to soften the whole look.
Hair Accessories
Headband fans rejoice! Stars like Rachel Weisz brought back this classic look at the Oscars. She wore a stunning, delicate silver tiara which helped to add a little bit of glitz to her hair which she kept down in a simple style.
The Bob
Game of Throne’s Emilia Clarke rocked a gorgeous and simple bob at this year’s Academy Awards, using a centre parting and a sleek style to tuck the hair behind her ears. This is a great choice if you love earrings which she was able to show off in all their glory. Charlize Theron and Irina Shayk wore a similar style, but tucked only one side behind the ear, creating two different looks in one!
Hollywood Waves
It wouldn’t be an award ceremony without some huge waves to add some glamour to the red carpet, and Chrissy Teigen wore them to perfection. However, the bounciest blow-dry award goes to Kendall Jenner, with a gorgeous flick created on the ends for a jaw-dropping look we’re dying the recreate.
Braids
Another emerging trend from this year’s Oscars was braids. That included the hairstyle rocked by model Jasmine Tookes, who wore her hair in a high braided ponytail. This looks great on those with really long locks. The Walking Dead and Black Panther star Danai Gurira wore her braids down, creating a regal look fit for a princess. For the perfect braided updo, check out Amandla Stenberg’s style.
Wavy Pixie Hair
Let’s not forget the incredible Glenn Close, whose short silver hair looked amazing on the night. Far from being limited by her shorter locks, they were styled in tousled waves for a softer style which she carried off with ease.
