Eyebrow treatments are beloved in the beauty industry, and our clients are always looking for new ways to get fuller-looking brows. Microblading is one of the most revolutionary brow enhancement techniques in the industry, creating a more natural appearance. Here’s everything you need to know.
What Is Microblading?
Microblading brows are ideal for anyone from those who are fed up of using an eyebrow pencil each day to those with fine, sparse hairs in this facial area. It’s a semi-permanent technique which can last up to 12 to 18 months, after which you can head to your beauty salon for touch-ups. A trained beauty technician will use a microblade to ‘scratch’ the outer, superficial skin layer only so that a coloured pigment can easily sit where they’ve drawn the new hairlines.
Creating Natural Looking Brows
The authentic appearance of these brows are achieved by drawing each hair individually, gradually filling in any sparse areas. The crisp hairline strokes mimic the look of real hairs compared to using a makeup pencil, so eliminates that ‘drawn on’ style which many people don’t like. The eyebrows will look much fuller, and the results are waterproof and smudge-proof. This means your brows will look incredible, whatever you’re doing.
Designing Your Ideal Bespoke Brows
Microblading offers clients the opportunity to design their new brows, tailored to their facial features, skin tone and hair colour. As the microblade is a handheld tool, the direction of each individual stroke is closely controlled by the beauty professional performing the treatment, so you can work with them to design brows which suit you perfectly. The pigment doesn’t change colour, but it loses its intensity over time, at which point you can book a top-up session.
Microblading Aftercare
A salon professional will give you aftercare instructions, but it’s good to know what to expect to get the best results, including how to adapt your skincare routine. It may take 4 to 6 weeks for your brows to fully heal but follow microblading aftercare strictly for at least two weeks.
You should not touch, rub or scrub your brows, even if there is any scabbing. Avoid getting your eyebrows wet, but if you do, gently dab them with a towel. Avoid activities in which you’ll have contact with spaces high in humidity, including saunas or cooking over a stove. You should avoid any eyebrow makeup or skincare products in this area, but your salon may be able to recommend an aftercare ointment or balm if you have dry skin. If you have any concerns, book a follow-up appointment at your salon.
